Orthodontics in Montrouge

The ideal treatment for optimal dental health

Have you noticed that something looks wrong (or different) about your child's teeth? Has your child's school dentist, your family dentist or a speech therapist advised you to see an orthodontist in Montrouge?

Orthodontic treatment has two main goals. First, it restores physiological functions such as chewing, swallowing, breathing and speech. Second, it improves the appearance of the face and smile.

Orthodontics is a dental speciality that corrects tooth misalignment and jaw deformities. The aim of orthodontic treatment is to optimise the stability of tooth positions, improve facial aesthetics and, of course, guarantee a beautiful smile.

The orthodontist uses the method best suited to the patient's age and needs so that treatment is comfortable and stress-free.

For children, we recommend a first visit to the orthodontist before the permanent teeth appear — known as interceptive orthodontics — around the age of 6. However, comprehensive orthodontic treatment usually only begins around age 10.

Interceptive orthodontics mainly aims to guide tooth position to achieve balanced jaw growth and oral-facial functions before age 11 (growth peak) and to create space for tooth alignment.

Correcting tooth positions and oral-facial functions is done by wearing a removable appliance. Depending on the child's or teenager's morphology and development, the orthodontist selects the appropriate care.

Removable orthodontic appliance

Before permanent teeth erupt, we generally use removable appliances to treat children under 11.

Fixed orthodontic appliance

To achieve a beautiful smile, we recommend fixed appliances for teenagers and adults.

How does an orthodontic treatment unfold?

Over time, pain from misaligned teeth can become debilitating and reduce your quality of life. Visit your orthodontist to address this.

Our practice in Montrouge, specialised in orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers and adults, will meet your needs and expectations. The first appointment unfolds in five phases:

  • Discussion with the patient or parent to understand their perceptions and expectations.
  • Oral health assessment (clinical examination).
  • Visual examination using photographs of the jaw.
  • Full diagnosis of tooth and gum health using two X-rays.
  • Digital impressions of the jaw.

A first appointment typically lasts about 1 hour.

Once the first appointment is complete, a second appointment is scheduled. During this second meeting:

  • The orthodontist establishes a treatment plan, shares it with the patient and explains the care needed to act early and prevent secondary anomalies and malocclusion.
  • The administrative team explains the cost and the coverage procedures (French health insurance and complementary insurance).
